UNIFORMS + TOOLS OF THE TRADE
TOOLS OF THE TRADE
The savvy event staffer always brings along a standard waiter’s corkscrew (for traying up) a lighter (for lighting candles) and straight pins (for pinning linens). These are the tools of our trade and if you do not yet have them please put together a kit from your local dollar store – you’ll be glad you did! Other handy items to have in your Kit include: Lip Balm, Breath Mints, Bandaids, Cocktail Shaker and Pour Spouts (if you are a bartender). These are all a tax write off for you as an independent contractor too!
UNIFORMS
White Bistro (WHT BBV) which consists of black pants, black socks, black dress shoes, white collared long sleeved shirt, black tie and a black vest,
Black Bistro (BLACK BBV) which consists of black pants, black socks, black dress shoes, black collared long sleeved shirt, black tie and a black vest and
ALL BLACK (BLK) which consists of black pants, black socks, black dress shoes, and black collared long sleeved shirt. As a contractor, you are required to provide your own uniform – a handy hint is to always bring both uniforms if you’re carrying your uniform to an event (better safe than sorry!) Black button down vests are readily available at Moore’s clothing stores for $40 or less.
In the summer months, we sometimes pair part of the above uniforms with a black fitted tshirt (BLK TEE) or white golf tee (POLO), which will be specified on the staff request breakdown.
UNIFORM NOTES:
PLEASE ENSURE YOUR PANTS ARE PROPERLY FITTED. It is our job to project a professional, polished look – your black dress pants must be full length (no cropped pants) not excessively baggy and not skintight – our dress code is “business professional”.
If you are requested to come “DRESSED” for a shift – we are asking you to come dressed in uniform prior to arriving onsite for your scheduled shift.
As a contractor, you are required to provide your own full uniform – a handy hint is to ALWAYS BRING BOTH UNIFORMS TO AN EVENT (better safe than sorry!)
H&M & Moores generally have ALL of the required uniform pieces (black pants, ties, vests, button down, tshirt and polo shirts) in stock at very reasonable prices if you need to update your uniform.
Please Note:
Your Black or White button down shirts must button up all the way to the collar so you can wear a tie – if not, you will have to bring safety pins in your kit so that you can pin your shirt and wear a tie with it.
Alternately, please purchase men’s button down long-sleeved shirts to facilitate the times we wear our ties with our uniforms.
Please note – ballet flats are not safe footwear to wear to work. Please ensure your black dress shoes cover the top of your foot in its entirety.
